GREEN CITY, MO --
Education is once again on the chopping block of Missouri budget cuts.
This time Governor Nixon cut $70 million in school reimbursement for student busing.
Our Fact Finder Team sat down with a local superintendent about how the loss of state aid will affect the school's budget.
“We've got approximately $45,000-$50,000 less to deal with in our budget, we've also had some other cuts we just found out we lost $15,000 towards our school nurse and I think that's also another important program. Our school nurse provides a lot of the health care for our families and for our students,” said Superintendent Donnie Campbell, Green City Schools.
Green City will not cut any bus routes, so the loss of state aid will have to be made up for somewhere else in the budget.
Kirksville Superintendent Pat Williams says Kirksville will lose between $60,000-$80,000, which will be taken out of the reserve funds.
