KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- Area residents turned out to enjoy the annual breakfast.

The Optimist Club's pancake breakfast is a fundraising event, half of the money raised on Saturday will be directed to the Young Achiever's Program and the other half will be used for two youth projects that will take place around Kirksville.

John Rowe, an Optimist Club member, said the organization was happy with Saturday's turnout and that the pancake breakfast is one of the few times that the organization has an event that enables people to sit down and chat.

"One of the unique things about this is that we get an opportunity to have people to come in and sit down and enjoy food and comradeship and fellowship with other people of the community," Rowe said.

The Optimist Club will be holding another fundraiser around the Christmas holiday.
