DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Democratic officials are planning the 2010 State Convention for this weekend in Des Moines.
The convention starts Saturday morning with committee meetings at the Polk County Convention Complex.
Expected speakers include Gov. Chet Culver, Lt. Gov Patty Judge and Sen. Tom Harkin with a keynote by Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.
Delegates to the convention were elected at county conventions earlier this year. The Saturday event is where the party crafts a platform.
Republicans plan their state convention June 26 in Des Moines.
General election campaigns officially opened this week after Tuesday's primary.
