KIRKSVILLE, MO --

A Kirksville religious leader is honored for his years in the ministry.

Kirksville area ministers recognized Pastor John Dungan from the First Christian Church at their monthly luncheon.

After eight years, Dungan is leaving the church and pursuing a different career. He'll take over as Executive Director of the United Way of Adair County on June 14.

“In a relationship between any congregation and pastor, there's things that you can accomplish together and times to move onto something new and I had the feeling that it's time to move onto something new. This opportunity presented itself and I’m excited about serving the community in a new way,” Dungan said.

Sunday will be Dungan's last day at the First Christian Church.
