KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Kirksville Moose Riders, based out of local Moose Lodge 1751, donated more than 100 Tommy Moose Dolls to multiple law enforcement agencies on Saturday.  Representatives from the Kirksville Police and Fire Departments as well as Truman State Police and Missouri Highway Patrol were on hand to receive the stuffed animals.  Moose Riders President P.T. Woods said the Tommy Moose Dolls help comfort kids during tragic events.

“It’s a program where we supply our local services with the little Tommy Moose Doll and they carry it in their vehicles” said Woods.  “What they do is if they run across a child in a traumatic situation, they give it to them to comfort them and make them feel better.”

Since the program began in 2003, more than 100,000 Tommy Moose dolls have been donated nationwide.

Kirksville’s Moose Riders are only a year old and have approximately 30 members.
