And Fact Finder checks out how business is doing at the water park.
OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Memorial Day weekend often means the official opening of swimming pools around the United Sates.
The Beach Ottumwa will now be open from Noon to 9 PM daily.
Gene Rathje, the Ottumwa Director of Parks and Recreation, told Fact Finder that season pass tickets for the summer are still the same as last year, $75. But daily admission has been lowered from $9 for adults, to $5 for all ages.
With this change, officials hope to draw more business from a wider area.
"We get a lot of business from northern Missouri, we have good friends down there. They come up on a regular basis, and we've got some rentals and stuff. So it's really a major league water park and it's a regional facility that draws customers from a 100-mile radius or more," Rathje said.
Officials at Beach Ottumwa told Fact Finder that over $500 was brought in on opening day. They say it was an improvement over last year with cooler temperatures and rain.
