BATAVIA, IOWA -- Twelve days and counting. That is all that is left for Iowa’s primary candidates to get out and convince people to vote for them.
Mariannette Miller-Meeks of Ottumwa is no different. She has been hot on the campaign trail shaking as many hands as she can.
She joined a few dozen guests for a meet-and-greet party in Batavia Thursday night.
While her home county of Wapello is strongly Democrat, Miller-Meeks said she isn’t worried about getting its vote.
“In 2008, which everybody would admit was a very bad year for Republicans, I took 52% of the vote in Wapello County and that was more because people know who I was, they knew that when I spoke I was sincere, I was authentic,” Meeks said.
