SHELBYVILLE, MO. (AP) -- A northeast Missouri man is undergoing a mental evaluation and faces charges after allegedly making threats and assaulting police officers at the Shelby County Courthouse.
The Hannibal Courier-Post reports that 76-year-old Darrell Large of Hunnewell was charged Monday with making a terrorist threat, resisting arrest and misdemeanor assault on a law enforcement officer. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says that on Thursday, Large was cursing and refused to leave the courthouse. He then allegedly said he was going to get his gun and "shoot everyone."
Large told witnesses he was the victim of an unspecified crime three years ago and he wanted a federal judge to review his case. Circuit Clerk Rosalie Shively says Large seemed confused and wouldn't listen to reason.
