KIRKSVILLE, MO --
It's that time again, “Click It or Ticket.”
The national campaign uses seat belt violations to get more people to buckle up. Troop B officers in the Missouri state highway patrol will participate in the enforcement campaign in Adair County later this month.
“It does save lives when people take three extra seconds to put their seatbelts on. During an our enforcement campaign we will have zero tolerance as far as people not wearing seatbelts, they can expect to be ticketed for that,” said Sgt. Brent Bernhardt, Missouri State Highway Patrol.
MoDOT’s Highway Safety Division will conduct a seatbelt survey afterward to see how many Missourians are buckling up. The results of last year's survey put the usage rate at 77 percent. That's below the national average of 84 percent.
“Click It or Ticket” will run from May 24 to June 6.
