ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Heavy weekend rain has caused rivers to rise in Missouri, and some towns are seeing renewed flooding.

The Grand River near Chillicothe on Monday morning was 8.8 feet above flood stage. Some roads were under water. A quick decline was expected.

The Mississippi River was a few feet above flood stage in northern Missouri. Hannibal's reading on Monday morning was 2.3 feet above flood stage. The river is expected to crest at 19 feet on Tuesday.

The Mississippi was rising downstream as well, and is expected to climb above flood stage in St. Louis on Tuesday and Cape Girardeau late Wednesday. Only minor flooding is forecast.

Minor flooding was also expected at Hermann, Washington and St. Charles on the Missouri River.
