The 33rd Annual Indian Hills Foundation Scholarship Auction is set to begin on Saturday morning.
OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The annual auction is a fundraiser for student scholarships and will be held at the North Campus, by the airport, at Indian Hills Community College.
Local businesses donated thousands of items to be put up for bid. There are also several booths that will have items for sale, including a large selection of books.
"We also have plants for sale and we'll have a country store which is your typical garage sale, where smaller items are marked. And then the auction starts at 10 AM. So people can look around from 9 AM to 10 AM at the auction items and begin making their purchases at 10 o'clock," said Rhonda Conrad, the Executive Director for the IHCC Foundation.
She told KTVO about what is new and different at this year's auction.
"We have some really neat gift certificates this year. One is: two tickets for Air Tran, so it's flights from Des Moines to a lot of different locations in the U.S. And they are valued at up to $500 each. We also have four park-hopper tickets for Disney. And so if you purchase the air flight and the Disney tickets, you could have quite a vacation," Conrad said.
There are also a number of raffles taking place.
"For the tuition credit raffle, a person can win $1,000 to be applied for tuition at Indian Hills for next school year. And so if you win it, you can use it. Or you can transfer it to somebody else whom you know is coming to school at Indian Hills," Conrad said.
