MACON, MO -- Everything is still on track for Central Methodist University (CMU) to open an extension in Macon, Missouri.  Macon officials and CMU representatives met this week to implement plans for CMU to open a regional campus in time for the fall 2010 semester.

Macon City Administer Allen Muncy said everyone is thrilled about the progress of the CMU extension.

"Macon's very excited about this.  This is a good partnership with CMU” said Muncy.  “We're looking forward to other educational entities utilizing the building through CMU and offering a lot more opportunities to the education to local and area residents.”

In December, Macon received a $55,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture to help foot the project.  Macon will use that money to refurbish the old YMCA building in Macon with three classrooms, a laboratory, and new parking lot.
