Six Kirksville World War II veterans will travel to Washington D.C. next Tuesday to experience the World War II Memorial firsthand.  They will join 66 other VFW members from other all over Missouri.  All transportation for the trip is provided by Central Missouri Honor Flight free of charge.  Kirksville VFW member Lloyd Welte has never seen the World War II Memorial.

“It’s simply one of those things I’d say you really have to see it to really appreciate it.  And I’m looking forward to the trip very much.  I think it will be really nice,” Welte said.

In addition to the World War II Monument, the veterans will take a tour involving other sightseeing attractions in the D.C. area.  This includes the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery.
