OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Some local students are holding their teacher to her word.
Students at James Elementary in Ottumwa sent pie after pie into their gym teacher’s face.
In February, the school participated in Jump Rope for Heart, a fund raiser benefiting the American Heart Association.
The teacher, Emily Renner, said every student who raised $50 could pie her in the face.
Well, as it turns out, 16 students hit that goal. The top fundraiser at $200 got the honor of pieing the principal.
Last year the students raised $300 as a school. This year, that total jumped to $1,600.
