MACON, MISSOURI -- Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces that Troop B officers will be conducting Selective Traffic Enforcement Operations on U.S. Highway 36 on May 8, 2010, and on U.S. Highways 61 and 63, on May 15, 2010. During these enforcement operations, which will be held from noon to 8:00 p.m. each day, extra officers and a Patrol aircraft will be scheduled to patrol the affected areas with a goal of detecting hazardous moving and speed violations that contribute to traffic crashes.
Traffic enforcement also will be increased over the Memorial Day weekend. On May 28, 2010, from 12 p.m. to midnight, and on May 31, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Troop B officers will be conducting a 10-mile Trooper Project on U.S. Highway 61 throughout the Troop B area. During this enforcement program, troopers will be assigned to 10-mile intervals in an effort to step up traffic enforcement with a goal of reducing traffic crashes over the holiday weekend.
"More motorists will be traveling on Missouri highways in the next several months to participate in the many outdoor activities Missouri has to offer," stated Captain Wilt. "The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be conducted numerous special enforcement operations over the next few months to help keep our roadways safe."
