KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- KTVO recently received a viewer tip about a day care closing its doors.
We were able to verify that information Tuesday.
Kirksville Day Care Center Board President Donna Brown told KTVO that the center on north Osteopathy Street is closing.
April 16th is the last day it will care for children.
Brown said the center is closing for financial reasons.
The Kirksville Day Care Center is a private, not-for-profit corporation that gets most of its funding from the Community Action Agency Head Start Program.
That program's Hickory Hills facility in Kirksville is now vacant.
It will move the Head Start eligible children from the Kirksville Day Care Center to the Hickory Hills facility.
Brown said the Kirksville Day Care Center employs 15 people, several of them are part-time, and some of the employees will probably be hired to work at the Hickory Hills Head Start.
Brown said the Kirksville Day Care Center cared for nine private-pay children whose parents are now making other arrangements for day care.
