JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) -- Wet spring weather has Missouri farmers working behind schedule and dealing with poor field conditions.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Missouri field office issued its first crop progress and condition report of the year Monday.
The report says wet conditions allowed Missouri farmers an average of only two days for field work last week. Spring tillage is just 13 percent complete, compared with a normal 33 percent for this time of year.
Corn planting is only getting under way in many parts of the state. Just 1 percent of the planned crop statewide has been planted, well below the normal 8 percent for early April.
