KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The search for a Kirksville Downtown Improvement Committee Inc. Executive Director has ended. After a nearly four month search, Lynn Daniels officially started as KDIC Director Monday. The position is brand new and is funded through a Downtown Revitalization and Economic Assistance for Missouri, or DREAM Initiative grant.
The funding lasts two years so Daniels must make the position self sustaining after that time.
Daniels duties as Executive Director will include promoting the downtown, writing grants for revitalization and other funding for the downtown area and businesses, and organizing events to bring people to the downtown.
“When I look at the small town, number one it’s very inviting. Coming from a big city, the folks here are very friendly, they’re very genuine, and in comparison it’s heartwarming,” said Daniels, “I would like to be able to make a difference and work with the community to make it better for everyone is what I’d like to do.”
Daniels is from Phoenix, Arizona where she worked as executive administrator for Arizona Oncology Services for more than ten years. There she assisted with operations at seven offices and worked directly for the president and CEO.
KDIC Board President Kylene Puckett says they’re excited to welcome Daniels to Kirksville and have the position finally filled.
