SIOUX CITY, IOWA (AP) -- The Iowa National Guard is holding town hall meetings about the state's largest deployment since World War II.
The programs are open to the public. One is scheduled for Tuesday at the East Middle School auditorium in Sioux City.
More than 3,000 soldiers will be deployed to Afghanistan later this year.
Leaders with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team will be available to answer questions.
The deployment involves the combat team and a smaller unit of about 60 soldiers and airmen. They'll focus on the revitalization of the agriculture infrastructure in Afghanistan.
After the public program, soldiers and their families will be able to meet with 2nd Brigade Combat Team leaders in a closed-door session.
