3 dead, 2 injured in Kansas City crash

KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP) -- Three people are dead and two others are seriously injured after a crash in Kansas City.

Police said in a news release that the crash happened around 3:20 a.m. Sunday when a speeding vehicle went airborne. Upon
landing, the driver apparently lost control, ran off the road and struck and uprooted a large tree.

The crash killed the male driver and a man and woman in the vehicle. Two other female passengers were transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

The names of the victims were not immediately released.
