Kirksville woman reports rape

Kirksville police are investigating a rape that was reported Thursday night.

Police say it happened just before 11 p.m. in the 200 block of South High Street. The victim told officers she was attacked when she took the trash outside to the dumpster behind her residence. 

She said she was forced on the ground by an unknown male and sexually assaulted. She was treated and released at Northeast Regional Medical Center following the attack.

There is currently no description of the attacker. 

Anyone with information concerning this attack is asked to call 660-665-5621, and speak with an officer.
