JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) -- More than 200 bridges around Missouri are scheduled for repair or replacement this year.
In almost all of those cases, the bridges will be closed during construction - meaning motorists will have to take a detour.
The Missouri Department of Transportation says replacing bridges in their existing locations helps lower the cost and speeds up construction because additional rights-of-way don't have to be purchased.
MoDOT has created a Web site - http://www.modot.mo.gov/safeandsound/ - with suggested detour routes for all of the bridge projects.
