KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The Adair County Family YMCA is looking for a new leader.

After more than two years as executive director, Lance Dempsay resigned effective Friday. Dempsay took the position in Aug. 2007.

In an emailed statement to KTVO Dempsay says he is pursuing other professional opportunities.

"It has been my pleasure to serve the Adair County community the past few years," he said.

In the statement Dempsay also says that during his tenure as executive director he increased membership and membership revenues.

YMCA Board of Directors President Matt Holt tells KTVO the board will release a public statement this week.

Dempsay said he will speak to KTVO after the board’s statement is released.
