DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Gov. Chet Culver says he'll veto any state budget that doesn't include an extra $347 million for Iowa's schools.

Culver on Monday increased his pressure on the Legislature to approve his proposed increase in elementary and secondary education funding, which he spelled out during the first week of this year's session.

Culver issued his warning during an event at the Capitol to mark a $50,000 contribution by agriculture giant Cargill to a dropout prevention program.

The extra education money would increase funding for Des Moines schools by $26 million, while Cedar Rapids and Sioux City would get over $12 million more. Culver says small school districts would gain, with Lake Mills getting an additional $387,000.
