DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- More than $127 million in federal money is headed to Iowa.
U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin announced the funding on Friday and says it comes through the Department of Education's State Fiscal Stabilization Fund. Harkin says the money is a second installment of funding.
The senator's office says in a news release that the money is to be used at the discretion of local school districts.
Harkin says communities can use the money to "keep schools open, kids learning and teachers on the job while the economy recovers and we get back on our feet."
