KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The latest snow storm is finally out of the area and now it's time to cleanup all around the Heartland.
Kirksville received 8.6” of snow from the weekend storm forcing the city to declare a snow emergency from Sunday night to Monday at noon. This was the second snow emergency of the year after the first was called in December.
Typically the snow piles from the downtown intersections are loaded into dump trucks and then unloaded at the bottom of the Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery.
Reporter asks, “This winter do you know if they've had a problem finding locations to dump it?”
“I know that they had to expand. I know that they have one spot they normally use and it is certainly full of snow this year and they've had to expand it out but they've got a couple of spots that they can take it,” said Community Services Director Melanie Smith.
Smith also reminds residents living within city limits that you have 24 hours to remove any snow from your sidewalks.
She says officials anticipate removing snow until midnight Monday night.
