KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Truman State University freshman Alex Hermann has put the finishing touches on his snow castle, at least for now.

Hermann built the snow masterpiece in about a week and a half outside the Catholic Newman Center on Truman's campus.

“It was pretty spontaneous. I just couldn't resist. I saw all the snow, we  had so much snow and I was like I want to build a fort or something and just started building and I just kept getting thoughts and imagination just went from there,” Hermann said.

The work of art took about 25 hours to complete.

“The vision I had of what it would look like is basically done. If it snows more, you know you could always make it bigger. Maybe if it snows this weekend I might work on it some more,” Hermann said.

The snow castle has been a hot topic around campus. Students have stopped by to check out and play in the snow castle.

Hermann hopes to build a different snow creation next year.
