DENMARK, IOWA (AP) -- Authorities say three people are dead in a head-on crash on an ice-covered highway near Denmark in southeast Iowa.
The Lee County sheriff's office says the collision happened Tuesday night when a car slid on the ice into oncoming traffic and collided with a van.
There were four people in the car. Authorities say the driver and two passengers were killed. The other passenger was injured.
The sheriff's office says the driver of the van, who was the only one in the vehicle, was also injured.
Officials say no names have been released, pending notification of families.
