MOUNT PLEASANT, IOWA -- Iowa Wesleyan College will celebrate the 168th anniversary of its founding with a convocation on Thursday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel Auditorium.

The theme of this year’s program is “Today’s Support for Tomorrow’s Success.”  Speakers will focus on the strong tradition of philanthropy that has supported Iowa Wesleyan throughout its history.

Speakers will include Dr. Jay Simmons, Iowa Wesleyan College president; Steve Hedlund, vice chairman of the Iowa Wesleyan College Board of Trustees, and Warren Ludvigsen, vice president for institutional relations.  The Iowa Wesleyan College Choir will perform.

Iowa Wesleyan College was founded on February 17, 1842, when the Territorial Legislature granted a charter for the Mt. Pleasant Literary Institute, later named the Mt. Pleasant Collegiate Institute.
