On Valentine's Day, our Fact Finder Team checked on business at a Heartland floral shop.
OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Edd the Florist is a longtime, family-owned business in Ottumwa.
Hans Wilz is the second-generation owner of the store He told Fact Finder that while business has been strong over the last few days, the phone has been ringing more today.
"Seeing how men kind of procrastinate a little more than women do, we have been busy for three or four days. And today being Sunday, Valentine's Day, we're busy again," Wilz said. "[Saturday] we had 20 people on staff working. [Sunday] it's the family and some friends finishing up, because most of the orders were placed."
He added that each artistic floral arrangement tells a story, and that the goal is to make people happy.
"The delivery guys are in the vans taking [flowers] out. And it's kind of a make it, take it situation where you come in and the guys getting their flowers on a Sunday, are picking those up to take with them," Wilz said.
Wilz also expressed appreciation for his customers' support for locally-owned businesses.
