FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- The Fairfield Entrepreneurs Association held its third annual economic summit Saturday at the Fairfield Library.
Local businesses, government officials, Chamber of Commerce members, and citizens attended the summit.
Our Fact Finder team spoke with FEA President Mario Van Dijk about how the economy in southeast Iowa is faring.
Van Dijk tells Fact Finder Saturday's summit allows local leaders discuss the current state of Fairfield’s economy.
He says they look at not only the issues and concerns but also opportunities for further development.
"There is actually. In a little bit there are some new programs going to be discussed by Birchinowski. There were some digressions about invested money, investment capital that is going to be available for the town," said Van Dijk.
The Fairfield Convention Center was a big topic of discussion at the summit.
A public vote coming up on May 4th will decide if 12.5% of the Local Options Sales Tax will be reallocated to pay off the Convention Center.
