JEFFERSON CITY, MO -- Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan today announced a grant of $29,814 to Adair County Clerk Sandy Collop to support efforts to ensure fair, accurate and secure elections. The funds will help ensure Adair County voter lists remain up to date and improve the efficiency of elections through well-trained poll workers and up-to-date technology.
“Missouri’s local elections officials do a great job providing quality customer service to every voter, and I am pleased to help provide the support and resources they need to do their jobs,” Carnahan said. “My office will continue to work with local elections officials to ensure confidence and convenience for Adair County voters on Election Day.”
“The County Clerk’s office greatly appreciates the opportunity given to Adair County by receiving grant money from the Secretary of State’s Office,” Collop said. “We intend to put the money to good use. We will be improving the election process by providing our poll workers with the latest technology to enhance the voting experience for the public.”
Carnahan’s office is making over $7 million available to local governments across Missouri for the 2010 elections. Local election authorities may qualify for grants based on the number of registered voters and the number of polling places in that county or jurisdiction.
