Accused livestock thief behind bars

LEWIS COUNTY, MO --  

A Bethel man was taken into custody for allegedly stealing livestock.

Since late last year, James Jones, 46, has been under investigation for stealing cattle and horses. According to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, Jones was selling livestock that wasn't his.
    
He is also accused of defrauding a Lewis County Bank by selling collateral like farm equipment, vehicles, and livestock. Jones is charged with two counts of Theft/Stealing of Livestock and one count of Defrauding Secured Creditors.

He's being held in the Lewis County Jail under $25,000 cash only bond.
