JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The state Department of Natural Resources has referred a southwest Missouri pesticide recycling company to the state attorney general for violating hazardous waste laws.

The department said Greenleaf LLC was careless with pesticide recycling. The DNR said hazardous waste at the sites was not properly contained and had been spilled at several locations.

The DNR said the Department of Agriculture also found that Greenleaf violated federal pesticide laws. The department then oversaw the removal and disposal of more than 73,000 pounds of hazardous waste from both of Greenleaf's facilities.

The attorney general's office will determine a civil penalty for the violations.

The company has locations in Neosho and Pineville.
