KIRKSVILLE -- The Catholic Newman Center at Truman State University will be losing its long-time director.  Bettie Lesczynski, the first female director of the Kirksville Newman Center, plans to retire at the end of this academic year.

One of Lesczynski’s fondest memories is that of the alumni throughout the years.

“One really great thing that I do remember is the alumni.  I'm just so excited to see how so many alumni have gone on to do awesome things and have stayed involved in the church” said Lesczynski.  "One of the alumni I remember best is Father Chris Cordes who is now pastor at Mary Immaculate Church here in Kirksville."

Lesczynski worked as director of the Newman Center for 16 years.  She plans on moving back to her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, in the summer.

You can read Bettie’s complete story on The Catholic Missourian website.
