KIRKSVILLE -- A group of Olympians took to the court today at Truman State University.

Special Olympics teams were showcasing some of their talent playing basketball.  They were promoting the upcoming polar plunge in February.  Fundraisers throughout the year help support these athletes and allow them to compete throughout the region.

“We’re in the middle of basketball season as well.  Their on their way to districts in Sedalia and state in St. Louis in the middle of March” said Special Olympics organizer Tim Shuster.  “Events like this are a way for us to show the people that do the things like the polar plunge, and raise money and support us, to show them what their efforts are going towards.”

The event will kick off with the 2nd annual Frostbite Run/Walk at Thousand Hills State Park on February 13 at 9:00AM.
