DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Gov. Chet Culver has added another western Iowa county to an ice storm emergency proclamation.
Culver added Calhoun County on Sunday. The proclamation already included Audubon, Carroll, Cass, Crawford and Sac counties.
Culver's proclamation allows state resources to be deployed to local communities affected by Wednesday's storm.
More than 9,000 Iowans were still without power Sunday afternoon. Western and central Iowa were hit hardest.
Utility officials say it could be five more days before the lights are back on for everyone. Some residents have already gone five days without power.
Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives Spokesman Allen Urlis says warmer temperatures are helping crews make progress on restoring power.
