NEAR ELDON, IOWA -- The 3rd Annual Archery Tournament took place on Saturday at Cardinal High School for elementary, middle and high school students.

In total, 94 participants from Cardinal took part in the match, along with students from Anamosa, North Mahaska, and other areas around the state.

Chad LaRue, President of the Archer Club, said that one of the lessons they teach kids is that school work is most important, and that the skill of the game can be harnessed by almost anyone.

"What we want kids to understand is that archery can be for anybody from whatever age. And the nice thing is it is something that you are going to use after high school. And we've got people that are in their 60s and 70s...archery all over the nation," LaRue said.

He added that archery is not gender or age specific, and that the skill for archery is not determined by height, weight or strength.
