CALLAO, MO. -- A former city employee is indicted in connection with an alleged embezzlement.  

The U.S. Attorneys office says Lou Ann Allred, 60, of Callao has been indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of mail fraud. 

Authorities say Allred embezzled approximately $150,000 from Callao, while she was City Clerk between 2004 and 2008. 

Allred could be sentenced up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted. 

She is expected to make her first appearance in federal court early next week.
