KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Red Cross is asking for your help with Haiti relief efforts.

Nationally the American Red Cross has released $10 million for Haiti Disaster Assistance. Local chapters of the Red Cross are fundraising to support and increase that amount.

“We're asking the people to help us help Haiti. We are releasing supplies in the way of blankets, cots, medical supplies, anything that we have has been released to Haiti so far,” said Deane Valkenaar, Executive Director of North Central Missouri Chapter.

Valkenaar says the local Red Cross has received a good response from the community.

There are a number of ways to donate to the Haiti relief fund. You can find that information here.
