DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- As a snowstorm moves out of Iowa, residents are bracing for wind and dangerously cold temperatures.
The storm dumped 4 to 6 inches of snow in most of the state, with higher amounts in some parts of northern Iowa.
National Weather Service forecaster Jeff Zogg says the bigger problem could be winds of up to 35 mph Thursday with gusts of 40 mph or higher.
Coupled with temperatures Thursday night of up to 15 below zero, that could create windchills of 35 to 40 below.
It will be even colder Friday, with an expected high in Des Moines of negative 6, but the winds will ease up.
Zogg cautions that it "will be very dangerous to be outside."
