OTTUMWA, IA -- On Monday, KTVO reported about help available to seniors in Missouri when it comes to Medicare.
On Tuesday, KTVO spoke with a specialist at the Seneca Area Agency on Aging in Iowa. While the agency doesn't endorse a certain program they do help fill out paperwork for seniors. Helping people save money is the main goal and that can mean a huge difference.
“Our goal is to try to let people know that we don't want people to feel like they have to choose between dinner and taking their medicine that night,” said specialist Noelle Bales. “So there are programs to help folks save money.”
Many seniors don’t know about what programs they actually qualify for.
“I think a lot of times it's because they are uninformed. They don't know what criteria are currently being looked at.”
Bales suggests that all people eligible for Medicare consult help before signing up for a plan.
