KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The Adair County Health Department is alerting parents that the time has come for children to receive their second dose of the H1N1 vaccine. Children nine and under who have already received one dose of the vaccine are due for the second round.
Officials with the Adair County Health Department tell KTVO that second dose requirements vary depending on which type of vaccine your child received.
“If they got the nasal spray it would be 28 to 30 days. So, it’s been that long I’m sure if it’s the nasal spray. If it’s the injectable it could be any time. A week or two weeks or whatever,” Claudine Frazier, R.N. Administrator for the Adair County Health Department said.
Even though recent vaccine recalls did affect a small amount of doses in Adair County, Frazier says she’s confident the vaccine is safe because it is provided by the government.
“That is your six months to two year olds that we didn’t have the affective dose. There were only 10 doses given that we had here and we have sent the rest back,” said Frazier.
The next scheduled Adair County Flu Clinic is Wednesday, December 23, 2009 from 8:00 AM to Noon & 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM. For more information you can call 660-665-8491.
