OTTUMWA, IA -- Good little boys and girls might receive a call from Santa Claus this week.
The South Prairie chapter of the American Red Cross has made arrangements with the North Pole. Santa can call your child on December 16th from 3:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. A freewill donation of $10 is suggested to participate in this program. The chapter says if you're feeling nice, you can donate more.
"Santa Claus will be calling your child and talking about what's going on these next couple of weeks,” said executive director Barry Dodd. “It's a great way to support the Southern Prairie
Red Cross and give a great thrill to your child.
Dodd said more people are looking to the Red Cross for help than in previous years. Last year alone the organization responded to 63 fires. That’s twice the average number of fires for chapters of that size.”
The red cross has extended the registration deadline until noon on Wednesday. If you’d like to register your child to receive a call from Santa call the American Red Cross at 641-682-4571.
