KIRKSVILLE, MO --

The Super 8 Motel in Kirksville is bringing families together for the holidays.

The motel is offering free rooms on Christmas Eve and Christmas day to out-of-towners who are visiting relatives in the hospital or a nursing home. The Super 8 has taken part in "Free Rooms at the Inn" for at least 11 years. Management say the program is a big success and they provided about a dozen free rooms last year.

“I think it's absolutely wonderful, it's our way of helping the community members to be able to enjoy the holidays for somebody that may not be able to spend the holidays with their family otherwise if they can't afford, especially with the economy the way that it is right now, sometimes money's just a little too tight and so we try to help out,” said General Manager Dondi Bates.

You don't have to make a reservation, but you can by calling the Super 8 at 660-665-8826. You’ll need to provide your phone number, address, and the name and location of the person you are visiting.
