KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Kirksville residents had a chance to poke around people's homes for a good cause.

The Thousand Hills Rotary Club put on their annual Holiday Home Tour Sunday afternoon. We stopped by the historic Captain Thomas Harris house on the tour. Dozens of people were lined up waiting to check out the restored home and it's holiday decorations.

Owner Daryl Shafer and his family worked on the house for about a month to get all the final details ready for the tour.

“I've heard of them the tours. They wanted Daryl to do this last year but the house wasn't ready and so we worked a little harder this year, so many people wanted to see it,” said Maxine Shafer, mother of the owner.

The proceeds from the Holiday Home Tour will go toward the Adair County Public Library Endowment Fund.
