KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Work continues to make a dog park in Kirksville a reality.
A group of about ten Kirksville residents have expressed interest in transforming the roadside park on Franklin Street into a leash-less dog park.
Volunteers must raise their own money for a fence and a water supply for the dogs. The group is waiting to raise money until they know the cost of a fence.
“We wanted to get a good idea of what the fence would cost first so that as we go into the fundraising we kind of have a goal in mind because that makes fundraising a little bit easier,” said Community Services Director Melanie Smith.
Smith says they will look at fences on Friday and that will give them an idea of how much money they must raise.
The roadside park is two acres and will have separate areas for large and small dogs.
