KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A luncheon to celebrate service was held Tuesday at Truman State University.
All of Kirksville's service clubs come together once a year to enjoy lunch and fellowship.
The clubs include Kirksville Optimist Club Kirksville Women of Today, Kiwanis International of Kirksville, Rotary Club of Kirksville, Quota International of Kirksville, Sojourner's Club, and Kirksville Thousand Hills Rotary Club.
Club members congratulate each other on past accomplishments and look ahead to goals for the future.
This year the Optimist Club sponsored the event and club member Scott Meredith was the Master of Ceremonies.
“Primarily I think it's a celebration of the service that we provide to the community. And so this is an opportunity for everybody to get together and just be happy about what we do,” said Optimist Club Member and M. C. Scott Meredith.
The entertainment was provided by the Kirksville High School Chamber Choir singing "We Gather Together."
Truman State University President Darrell Krueger served as guest speaker. Meredith says Krueger has been a member of the community for years and knows a lot about the services provided to Kirksville and its citizens.
