KIRKSVILLE, MO --

With hunters out and about Saturday for the start of firearms deer season, we wondered how many deer were donated for Share the Harvest.

That's a program where hunters can donate all or a portion of their deer to feed the hungry. Our Fact Finder Team stopped by the Adair County drop off site, which is in the old Goody's parking lot in Kirksville.

Fact Finder learned that Share the Harvest is off to a slow start this year. Only 12 deer were donated Saturday, which dramatically fell short of the 200 deer goal for opening weekend.

If you'd like to donate your deer, you can stop by the refrigerated truck Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday-Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
