MACON, MO --

A Northeast Missouri man is behind bars for allegedly stealing money from a disabled woman.

Clinton Mitchell, 34, of Macon is accused of cashing in over $200 in forged checks that he allegedly stole from a 59-year-old disabled woman.

Mitchell is charged with forgery and financial exploitation of an elderly/disabled person. He already faces other forgery charges pending from a case in May. Mitchell had been released on his own recognizance in that case.

He's currently being held in the Macon County Jail on $15,000 cash only bond. Mitchell has a preliminary hearing coming up on November 17 in Macon County Associate Circuit Court.
